[Trade] Girl Liker Meetup
AAAAAAAAAAAAAUGH.
Twig slammed her head against the wall of her room. This idea was so stupid. There was no way it would work. She might as well rip up the paper in her hands and swallow it. Hide her feelings, as usual. It was easier than trying to do…whatever this was.
She checked the clock. The post office would close in an hour. If she was gonna do it, she had to hurry. Ugh, fine. Stuffing the letter in her bag, Twig headed out the door. Now or never.
The walk to the post office was uneventful. Twig saw some animals hanging out in the park, and a couple snuggling on a bench. It was pretty cute…urghhhh, everything was trying to mess with her head again. She was in too deep, though. The office was just ahead. Taking a deep breath, she headed for the entrance.
BONK!
Twig was stopped by a collision with another spacecat, making her drop her bag. Scrambling to pick it up, she looked at the cat in front of with a scowl.
“Hey, watch where you’re going, bud! I’m kind of in a rush here!”
The taller pink spacecat looked very apologetic and helped Twig up.
“Oh crap, I’m so sorry! I wasn’t paying attention. Are you alright?”
Twig examined the other cat. Her spacedust was pink too. Like Sparkle’s eyes…SHUT UP!!! “I-I’m fine! Wait, what were you doing in the post office? I thought it was closing soon.”
The pink cat laughed. “It doesn’t close for an hour, plenty of cats are coming in and out. I was just delivering a letter to my partner, they’re on a work trip. Gosh, I miss them so much…what are you doing here? Uh, what’s wrong? You’re making a face.”
SHIT.
“NOTHING! I was uh, going the other way! Totally not trying to deliver a love letter to my crush. Not at all! Move along now!”
The pink spacecat just stared at her, shocked.
Twig, you IDIOT!
“Uh, I didn’t say anything! I don’t like anyone! That would be stupid! Crushes are for losers! AAAAUGGGHHHH JUST GO AWAY THIS WAS ALL A MISTAKE-”
“Hey. Stop.”
Twig looked up again. The pink cat was looking at her with a kind smile on her face. She’s not gonna make fun of me?
“I understand how you’re feeling. There’s nothing wrong with having feelings for someone. Heck, my partner acted just like you sometimes before we started dating! Are you worried about something?”
Twig let out a long sigh. “Honestly…I’m worried about how she’ll react to this. I’m sending the letter anonymously, but what if she finds out it’s me? What if she doesn’t feel the same way? What if it upsets her? She’s so amazing, and I don’t know if I deserve to be with her in the first place! Am I out of line?”
The pink cat thought for a few moments, then reached out a paw.
“Can I see the letter?”
“Uh….ok.”
Twig took the letter out of her bag, it was encased in a simple white envelope, with no return address. There was no evidence that it came from her, or anyone, really. Why does that make me feel worse…?
The other cat took a look at the package, then took the letter out of the envelope, crumpled the envelope, and threw it in the recycling.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” Twig yelped.
“Finding a better envelope that fits you! If you’re gonna confess to this girl, you’re doing it upfront. No hiding behind a boring wall! Now, I think I have some rhinestones in my bag somewhere…”
Twig jumped. “Wait wait wait, are you suggesting I go give this to her IN PERSON?! I can’t do that, I’d just make a fool of myself! I-”
“And not giving this girl a proper chance to respond isn’t foolish?”
“...I don’t know.”
“Listen, I understand being nervous. You don’t know what’ll happen. You’re worried something bad will happen. But you don’t know until you’ve done it. It’s better for the both of you to just…be honest. Be yourself. I can see you’re a lovely little lady. If this girl can’t see it, that’s on her. But…I have a feeling she will see it.”
Twig stared at her paws. “I just want her to know how lovely she is, too.”
“I’m sure you know how to express that. Young love is such a sweet sight to see, and movies tend to over-dramatize it. I think this card looks much better now, what do you think?” The pink cat handed the card back to twig. She had adorned the cover of it with sparkly orange rhinestones. It was quite pretty.
“...How did you know orange was her favorite color?”
“I just had a feeling.”
“I, uh, thank you! I don’t know how to return the favor…”
The pink cat winked. “Don’t worry about that. You just march over to that girl’s place, and give her that card! Maybe I’ll see you two around somewhere.”
“I…I hope we will. Thank you.”
