Background Categories:
NO BACKGROUND: Transparent, single-color, and gradient backgrounds do not use the background add-on and cannot be redeemed as backgrounds. Photos also fall under this category.PATTERNS: Abstract or repeating patterns that are either hand drawn or at the least somewhat modified by the artist. Handwritten text, aside from signatures, can also be redeemed as patterns, however typed text cannot unless heavily modified.
PROPS: An absent or patterned background with props included. This includes items on the ground, items held by the character, companions, or non-character animals. Must be hand drawn and cannot be overly simple. Accessories and traited features (aside from companions) cannot be redeemed as props.
SIMPLE SCENE: A background that places the character in an indentifiable scene, with at least 1 hand drawn prop present. Exclusive use of pre-made stamp brushes cannot be redeemed as a scene, unless modified by the artist.
DETAILED SCENE: An enviromental background with attention to detail. Many factors can go into turning a scene from simple to detailed including the following:
- Multiple planes (fore/mid/background)
- Detailed perspective
- Large numbers of hand-drawn props
- Extreme hand detailing
- For example, manually rendering each leaf on a branch.
